Great Value Restaurants in Dublin
We promised to keep bringing you our recommendations so we’ve been out and about to find the best Dublin city centre restaurants for you to enjoy.
If you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for, or there’s a group of you all with different tastes, tapas is the perfect solution: just go in and lots of plates of wonderful nibbly things. I recently tried Salamanca on St Andrews Street for the first time and was very impressed. Its just around the corner from the tourist office but definitely not a tourist trap. The food was excellent (their meatballs are a must), wine good value with decent bottles around €24 and service friendly and efficient. My personal rule of thumb when ordering tapas is 3 dishes per person, here the portions were little bigger than normal and 2.5 would have been enough (still finished them all of course). Salamance also has a sister restaurant round the corner on Dame Street.
In a similar vain, YO! Sushi is one of my favourite spots for lunch in Dublinspots. Situated on Claredon Street it’s just behind Brown Thomas so if you’re enjoying a shopping trip to Grafton Street you don’t have to go far for great food. Funky, fresh and fun, the array of dishes available is mind boggling. Again, my recommendation is everyone to pick few different dishes. If you’re a YO! virgin the staff explain how it all works but you’ll have no problems getting the hang of it – not getting carried away and eating everything and anything that goes past on the conveyor belt might be harder!
For Sunday brunch, and a bit of a treat, Eden it’s my top suggestion – one of the girls here had an early bird dinner last week and raved about the place so we’re very confident about this recommendation! Eden is in the heart of Temple Bar on Meeting House Square and adjacent the Gallery of Photography. They’re passionate about Irish food and this is reflected in their menu stuffed full of classic dishes using top quality Irish produce with beef from Co Carlow and free range chickens from Monaghan.
I’ve been saving the best for last with my latest discovery of Sabor Brazil off Camden Street. It’s slightly further from our O’Connell Street hotel than I’d normally recommend to you but it’s still only 30 minutes walk or short taxi ride and well worth it. Unassuming from outside, inside it is slightly eccentric in style but that all adds to the charm. The menu is extensive but not very vegetarian friendly. I won’t spoil the surprises of this absolute gem and skip to the most amazing thing – we were a party of 4, enjoyed 3 courses and enjoyed 4 bottles of wine (not sure how that happened) but the bill came to just over €200 in total. The best example yet of the great value now available in Dublin.
I hope you get a chance to try these suggestions when you visit Dublin. If you’ve recommendations you think we should mention we’d be delighted to hear them. Leave me a comment or find us on Facebook.
